This cool 1970s Sierra Designs 60/40 jacket is a staple of American outdoor apparel of the sixties and seventies. The number 60/40 comes from the fabric content of this jacket being 60% nylon and 40% cotton. This jacket was the first to have a little leather disk at the end of the drawcord for the hoody. This piece was actually a leftover piece of leather that was lying around the workshop and which was used for their tents. This little simple piece of rounded off leather is nowadays seen in so many garments, but legend has it that the 60/40 parka was the first to have it. The parka even featured in the famous movie The Deerhunter in which Robert DeNiro wears it.
So we are proud to offer this nice piece of Americana outdoor heritage. As can be read in their ca. 1970s ad "We unconditionally warrant this product against defects in materials and workmanship for your lifetime. If any stichting ever wears out, tears loose, or breaks, return the product to us. We will repair or replace it, free of charge.” they take their product really serious!
